Business Leader & Technocrat

Mr. S. Ramadorai is a renowned business leader and technocrat, celebrated for his transformative role in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Appointed CEO & MD in 1996, he grew the company from $155 million in revenues to a $6 billion global IT services giant by 2009. During his tenure, TCS went public in 2004, marking a milestone in the company’s history. After retiring as CEO in 2009, he served as Vice Chairperson until 2014, completing over four decades with TCS.

In 2011, Mr. S. Ramadorai transitioned to public service with a mission to contribute to national development. As Chairperson of the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), he worked to standardize training efforts, ensure quality outcomes through technology, and foster collaboration. Currently, he leads Mission “Karmayogi Bharat,” a national program focused on transforming the Indian bureaucracy and equipping civil servants for the future.

He has served on the boards of leading companies, including BSE, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, and Piramal Enterprises. Deeply committed to social causes, he supports initiatives in education, skill development, healthcare, and sustainability through organizations like Tata STRIVE, Axis Bank Foundation, PHFI, and CEEW. He chaired the Governing Board of TISS for over a decade and co-founded the Anwesha Trust with his wife to drive social initiatives.

For his outstanding contributions, Mr. Ramadorai was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2006 and the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2009 for strengthening Indo-British economic relations. In 2016, he received The Economic Times Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to TCS.

An accomplished author, he chronicled his journey in “The TCS Story…and Beyond” (2011), with its Tamil edition released in 2022. Among his personal interests, Mr. Ramadorai is passionate about photography and Indian classical music.

Thiru. R. Seshasayee
Chartered Accountant

R. Seshasayee, a Chartered Accountant, began his illustrious career with Hindustan Lever Ltd in 1971 before joining Ashok Leyland in 1976. Over four decades with the company, he rose to become Managing Director in 1998 and later served as Executive and Non-Executive Vice Chairperson until 2016. During his tenure as Managing Director (1998–2011), Ashok Leyland underwent a transformational phase, emerging as a global technology leader. The company’s turnover increased fivefold, net profit thirtyfold, and market capitalization fourteenfold under his stewardship. His initiatives focused on globalization, diversification, and sustainable development, leaving a lasting legacy of growth and innovation.

Beyond Ashok Leyland, Seshasayee has made significant contributions to the banking sector and industry leadership. As Chairperson of IndusInd Bank since 2007, he oversaw a fifty-threefold increase in its market capitalization. He also served on the Boards of ICICI Bank, Infosys (as Chairperson from 2015 to 2017), and Asian Paints. Seshasayee was an influential leader in industry associations, serving as President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2006–07 and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) from 2001–03. His active participation in global forums, including the Doha and Hong Kong WTO Ministerial Rounds and the World Economic Forum – Middle East, underscores his global perspective.

A staunch advocate for education and healthcare, Seshasayee has held leadership roles at institutions such as the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, and the Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram. He currently chairs the Executive Committee of Krea University and the Executive Council of the Cancer Institute, Chennai, while serving as Chairman of SCARF and Vice President of the Music Academy, Chennai. Seshasayee’s contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the ‘Star of Italian Solidarity’ award and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, reflecting his unwavering commitment to excellence and societal well-being.

A distinguished community service leader and electronics & communication graduate, Subramaniam Jayaraman has been instrumental in large-scale social initiatives. Recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus by the Coimbatore Institute of Technology, he has pioneered projects in education, healthcare, and CSR partnerships.

Key Contributions

  • Provided computers to 165 schools and established community learning centers.
  • Through the IPDP Trust, ensures midday meals for 12,500 schoolchildren daily and supports food distribution for 1,000 needy individuals.
  • Led the Sankya Vidhya Foundation to donate over 15,000 refurbished laptops to schools.
  • Spearheaded eLearning in nearly 1,000 schools, bridging the digital divide.
  • Directed a ₹15 crore COVID relief initiative, securing ₹1 crore CSR funding from Titan.
  • Pioneered an SMS-based Eye Donation Awareness program, enabling 152 eye donations and influencing Tamil Nadu government policies.
  • Mobilized CSR support for school desks, toilets, solar lights for tribal families, and secured ₹5 crore in hospital infrastructure funding through Rotary clubs.
  • Hosted a weekly radio program for three years, bridging communities and service initiatives.

Dr. Deepamala is a seasoned social development professional with over 25 years of experience in managing large-scale development projects. She has served as Director & Head of Development Initiatives at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Region, pioneering impactful social programs across India.

With expertise in citizen participation, governance, and sustainable livelihoods, she has worked closely with governments, UN agencies, and civil society organizations.

Dr. Deepamala’s vast experience and commitment to grassroots development make her an invaluable part of NDSO’s advisory board, guiding efforts towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Dr. Alagar Ramanujam, a distinguished cosmologist and academician, has devoted over five decades to the pursuit of knowledge in relativity, gravity, and astrophysics. As the former Principal and Professor of Physics at NGM College, Pollachi, he has been a pioneer in advancing the understanding of fundamental forces in the universe. His groundbreaking contributions include modifying Newton’s law of gravity, opening new avenues in the field of physics.

Dr. Alagar Ramanujam’s academic excellence is reflected in his extensive body of work, with around 50 research papers published in prestigious national and international journals, establishing his reputation as a leader in the scientific community.

Beyond his academic and research achievements, Dr. Alagar Ramanujam has delved deeply into the philosophical dimensions of science, exploring profound questions about life energy (Atma), the mysteries of life after death, and the intersection of empirical evidence with spiritual insights. His ability to bridge science and philosophy has enhanced his teachings and writings, inspiring countless students and thinkers to explore beyond conventional boundaries.

In addition to his intellectual pursuits, Dr. Alagar Ramanujam founded the Vedathri Maharishi Ashram, a center for supporting underprivileged communities in rural areas. Through this initiative, he has launched various programs aimed at uplifting socially and economically disadvantaged groups.

Since 2008, Dr. Alagar Ramanujam has expanded his influence as the President of the Networking and Development Center for Service Organizations (NDSO). Under his leadership, the NDSO has thrived as a collaborative platform, addressing societal challenges in poverty alleviation, education, and community development.

J. Prabhakar, affectionately known as JP, is a visionary whose belief that “Every individual has the power to make a difference” has driven his lifelong dedication to social service. His journey began in 1989 with the establishment of Vivekananda Schools in Periyar Nagar, Theeyampakkam, providing free education to children from marginalized communities. This initiative has expanded to several rural and urban areas, impacting thousands of children by offering them access to quality education and a brighter future.

JP’s efforts have enabled countless children to break the cycle of poverty and pursue meaningful lives. In 2005, he founded the Networking and Development Centre for Service Organizations (NDSO), envisioning a network of over 2,000 NGOs across Tamil Nadu and beyond. Under JP’s leadership, NDSO has become a powerful platform for collaboration, addressing critical issues like poverty alleviation, education, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.

  • NDSO fosters a spirit of shared responsibility, bridging societal gaps by uniting changemakers and tackling pressing challenges faced by underserved communities.

Beyond engineering, Mr. N. Harihara Subramaniyan’s multifaceted leadership emerged early when he joined the Lions Club of Padi at age 24. His exceptional contributions earned him the prestigious “Best Lion of the District” award. By age 25, he began his association with the Swami Vivekananda Educational Society, taking on the role of honorary administrator at Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya. For over a decade, he worked tirelessly to uplift the institution, ensuring quality education and holistic development for students.

Driven by his passion for education and community service, Mr. Harihara Subramaniyan established the Mother India Foundation in 1999, a platform dedicated to promoting patriotism, social responsibility, and cultural values.

  • Served as a trustee for the Swami Vivekananda Rural Community College, recognized globally as a model institution.
  • Led the development of a value education program implemented in over 2,000 schools across India.
